Department of Social Services in Maryland

Individual counties in Maryland get a wide range of assistance from their department of social services. There is help with housing, food, medical treatment, temporary cash and disability assistance.

Different Needz Foundation

Different Needz Foundation will give funds to individuals, families and organizations whom are or care for special needs (physical or mental) individuals for medical expenses, medical equipment, therapy equipment, adaptive toys, community projects and any other purpose deemed appropriate as aide to and/or for an individual(s) with special needs. Located in Northeast Ohio, the Foundation has expanded its reach and has helped individuals and organizations in nineteen states, Maryland being one of them. Applications are accepted January through March.

Knights of Columbus Community Integration

Small need-based scholarships (<$500.00) are available to individuals with intellectual disabilities for inclusive programs. Past scholarship winners have used these funds to attend their local "Y," college classes, camps, and other inclusive activities.

The Arc of Maryland

Each chapter offers mini grants for a wide range of services and items. Respite and childcare included. Check with Arc chapter in your county for specific details.

Low Intensity Support Services

Low Intensity Support Services (LISS) are grants up to $2,000 to assist adults with developmental disabilities and families with a child with developmental disabilities in purchasing services and/or items to address needs.
